Wagner Logistics, a Top 50 Third Party Logistics company and one of the 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies in the U.S., is searching for a dynamic professional to fill a newly created Warehouse Solutions Designer role. The right candidate will be able to take customer-supplied information and design warehousing and material handling solutions for handoff to the pricing department. This role may have some customer contact during the design process to dial in a solution to each customer’s specific needs. Other aspects of the role would be supporting operations with continuous improvement or thought leadership on an occasional basis. This role will be vital in supporting Wagner Logistics’ aggressive business growth plans through front line engagement on initial new project analysis. The ideal candidate would have logistics or warehousing operations experience, knowledge of lean and/or continuous improvement concepts and waste reduction, as well as familiarity with breaking down a process into its components for analysis. Experience with automation or robotics would be a plus but are not required. Other desirable skills in this role include high-level interpersonal skills and the financial acumen required to provide project justification and ROI. This position will office at our Corporate Headquarters in North Kansas City, MO. Less than 10% travel outside the Kansas City Metro will be required. The normal shift is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with other hours as required by project. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.
  • Develop customer solutions, warehouse layouts, and system designs for pricing
  • Assist in setting up and optimizing warehouse layouts, with CAD software as necessary
  • Evaluate potential non-traditional solutions, including robotics, automation, and machine learning
  • Strive to contribute to Wagner’s Thought Leadership by researching industry trends and topics
  • Examine current processes and workflows
  • Develop future state processes
  • Analyze competing solutions and calculate ROIs
  • Identify and suggest additional Continuous Improvement projects
  • Support Continuous Improvement projects as defined by Wagner Solutions team

  • Citizenship Must be a United States citizen
  • Criminal Background and Pre-Employment Drug Test – A clean criminal history and pre-employment drug test is mandatory
  • Education (Required) - College – Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain or Data Analysis or equivalent work experience
  • Certifications (Required) – None
  • Experience (the minimum level of direct experience in a similar position) – 3-10 years professional experience working in a warehousing or manufacturing environment on process and quality control, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge/Experience/Skills
  • Required Software: Microsoft Office Suite, CAD
  • Preferred Software: Tableau or other data visualization software, experience with a Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Must be a team player and excellent communicator who possess the ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors, and other employees of the corporation. Must be skilled in all job-related technology and engage in logical, process-based problem solving.
Travel – Limited, potentially up to 10% domestic travel
  • Ability to stand, sit, squat, crawl, bend, twist, reach and/or kneel for up to 12-hour periods of time and repetitively
  • Exposure to varying temperatures: heat, cold, wet, damp, drafty
  • Work on concrete and unlevel surfaces
  • May be required to climb ladders and stairs
  • Work around hazardous materials and may be exposed to carcinogens, toxic, and explosive materials.
  • Possible exposure to areas with high noise levels that may require hearing protection
  • Use hands and fingers to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying sizes and weights
