The Café

Directly connected to the newly renovated United Theatre in historic Westerly, Rhode Island, this Classic American Café concept will be the F&B hub of the Arts Complex (and town). With 85 seats within the restaurant itself, and access to multiple events spaces within the theatre, the opportunities for creative culinary programming are endless.

Sitting on the south shore of Rhode Island, the town of Westerly is a residential community in the winter, swelling in the summer to accommodate tourists eager to explore the local beaches, Narragansett Bay and the Rhode Island Sound. Just over the border from Connecticut, Westerly is conveniently located to the Aquarium at Mystic, as well as the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos. Nearby, the picturesque village of Watch Hill features ocean views, ice cream shops, and craft boutiques. The area features year-round cycling, trails for hiking / running, and incredible surf locales.

Sous Chef opportunity:

We expect this candidate to assist in the implementation of a terroir driven menu under ownership and Management team’s creative supervision, while making use of the 100's of acres of surrounding Rhode Island and Connecticut Farmland (including a local organic farm less than 7 miles away) to provide guests with a complete seasonal experience year-round, both during regular services and events

Total compensation (including, bonuses, etc.) is extremely competitive and is based on experience. There will be a six-month performance review, and a financial / performance review will be given at twelve months. If after twelve months both parties are satisfied, a raise can be issued. Raises are percentage-based and range from one to seven percent of base salary.

The Position is responsible for support in , but not limited to, the following areas:

· Food cost (to be documented for ownership at a monthly P&L meeting)

· Labor cost (to be documented through scheduling and daily / weekly monitoring) Assist in planning and executing events / other food-related elements of the complex (brunch, wedding dinners, etc.) including collaborative chef dinners & additional programming

· Growth of Food & Bar Related revenue

· Execution of menus and creation of daily additions

· Sourcing / developing relationships with local producers, farmers, and chefs

· Vendors sheets, inventories (monthly) and ordering

· Consistency of product

· Adherence to D.O.H. guidelines / regulations along with cleanliness of kitchen

· Building and training of B.O.H. personnel (including paperwork, discipline, etc.)

· Assist in building and training of F.O.H. personnel (including paperwork, discipline, etc.)

· Education of all staff

· Participation in weekly F.O.H. / B.O.H. management meetings

· Equipment maintenance

· Work along creative team for culinary social media content and marketing purposes'
