General Functions: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Music Lesson Coordinator is responsible for managing registrations, billing, enrollment, scheduling, payroll, and other needs of the YMCA’s music lesson program. Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks: The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Work directly with the Executive Director and Director of Studio Programs as needed.
  • Assist in hiring music lesson instructors.
  • Communicate professionally with Y members and students regarding the music lesson program, registration, and billing.
  • Process new student registrations.
  • Maintain staff/student lesson schedules for all lesson sites.
  • Collect and organize program data as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Maintain records of student lessons (through staff and student sign-in sheets).
  • Assist the Executive Director with music staff evaluations.
  • Process payroll for all YMCA music instruction staff.
  • Assist in purchase of necessary program supplies.
  • Help to ensure that all staff meet YMCA requirements for conduct.
  • Help to ensure that lesson sites are clean and safe for both members and staff.
  • All other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Arts or Education-related field (music preferred).
  • Experience teaching individual or group music lessons.
  • Customer service experience.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
  • Demonstrates strong organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communications (oral and written) skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with both members and staff.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Computer proficient.
  • Time management skills.
Trainings & Certifications:
  • Must complete online Bloodborne Pathogens, Employee Safety, Sexual Harassment Prevention, and Youth Protection Series trainings prior to initial assignment to position.
  • Must complete online Hazard Communication training within the first 90-days of employment.

Physical Demands: Ability to frequently sit, use hands and fingers, stand, type, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, kneel and climb a minimum of two flights of stairs multiple times per day. Occasionally required to lift and/or carry and move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required: ability to read computer screens. Work Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior office work environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
