The starting monthly salary is at the minimum rate of pay advertised above.

The Department of Human Resources Development- State Recruiting Office will refer all inquiries regarding this recruitment to the DOT Personnel Office.

Duties Summary

This position participates and supervises a work crew in performing landscape maintenance such as digging, planting, mowing, trimming, pruning and weeding of lawn, trees, shrubs and bushes, participates and supervises the application of fertilizer, herbicide, insecticide and fungicide and to pick up and clean areas by removing leaves, branches, rubbish and other debris.

This position also participates and supervises a work crew in the installation and repair of sprinkler system, repair ground erosion, cultivate plants, make compose and work in the plant nursery.

Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Experience and Training:

Two (2) years of full-time work experience in the care and maintenance of grounds and other landscaped areas; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge of:

Care and cultivation of shrubs, flowers, trees and lawns; use, care and operation of ground maintenance equipment such as power mowers, edgers and trimmers, as well as hand tolls used in ground maintenance work

Ability to:

Assign and supervise the work of others; keep time and attendance records; gain the cooperation of others; understand and follow oral and written instructions; operate and use ground maintenance equipment and hand tools; perform lifting , carrying and other manual work typical of the class.

Driver's License:

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
