There will be an Preschool Assistant position(s) available with the Olentangy Preschool Program for the 2022-2023 school year. Work hours are Monday through Friday; 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Mondays are for professional development, classroom preparation, child check screenings, and other duties as assigned. Students attend Tuesday through Friday for 2 hours 40 minutes in a morning session and 2 hours 40 minutes in an afternoon session. Staff have a lunch break and some planning time in between sessions. Location: Olentangy Preschool has numerous locations, the specific job location is still pending, but will be finalized during the interview process.

Qualified candidates will be employed through the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio (ESCCO) and must hold or be eligible for a valid intervention aide permit through the Ohio Department of Education (ODE).

Preschool Classroom Type/Job Description: Olentangy Preschool is a special needs preschool that offers a continuum of preschool programming. The full-time preschool assistant role will be in an integrated classroom which consists of approximately 6-8 students with individualized education plans (IEPs) and 6-8 peer models. The staff in a preschool integrated classroom includes: one full time preschool teacher and one assistant. You work as a teaching team to support all of the students. The teacher plans and implements the general preschool curriculum and has an intervention specialist license to provide specialized designed instruction to meet the IEP requirements. The assistant role is designed to support the teacher by assisting with preparation of classroom lessons and materials, support student needs throughout the 2 hour 40 minute class period (i.e. bathroom/diapering needs, behavior supports, set-up for snack, instructional groups, design dramatic play area, etc).

The online Support Candidate Assessment is sent via a link under separate email cover. On occasion, the email may end up in junk or spam mail. If so, the link will be titled “Do Not Reply” with the subject “Regarding your Olentangy Local Schools application”. Keep in mind that the assessment is a timed assessment, so please set aside approximately 45 minutes of uninterrupted time before you begin the process. Once the assessment is started, it must be completed.
