ABOUT WARRIOR-SCHOLAR PROJECT
In partnership with more than 20 top colleges and universities, Warrior-Scholar Project (WSP) hosts intensive, one and two-week college-preparatory academic boot camps for enlisted veterans and transitioning service members. Boot camps are offered in three disciplines: Humanities, STEM, and Business & Entrepreneurship. Through faculty lectures, workshops and research projects, tailored assignments, and one-on-one tutoring, warrior-scholars acquire the skills to succeed in higher education and navigate the cultural shift from military service to college. Throughout the course, warrior-scholars are mentored by student veterans (fellows) who have successfully transitioned from the military to college. WSP also offers workshops tailored to address the unique needs of veterans enrolled in community colleges and targeted programming for marginalized veterans, such as the WSP Women Veterans Empowerment Dialogues. All programming is provided at no cost.
ABOUT THE EDUCATION PROGRAMS COORDINATOR
Reporting directly to the Director of Education, the Education Programs Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director of Education with the development, execution, and evaluation of education programs and events, including academic boot camp programs at host institutions and other academic- and career-based programs and events, and the implementation of organizational processes as they relate to WSP?s academic and career-based offerings. The Education Programs Coordinator must have a background in program coordination and logistics, preferably in an academic and/or nonprofit setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Coordination
Assist the Director of Education in the development, coordination, and execution of education programs and events, including academic boot camp programming at host campuses
Refine and/or develop systems for communication and coordination with education and veterans services partners
Communicate and coordinate regularly with host campuses and programmatic partners to manage and track programmatic needs, such as staffing, tasks, and schedules
Maintain schedule and task- and partner-tracking systems (e.g., Google Suite, Trello, Salesforce), in collaboration with the Operations team
Update WSP team regularly with regard to all education program planning, progress, and changes
Coordinate the recruitment of, communication with, and training for WSP seasonal staff (fellows)
Program Execution
Travel to staff training site and on-site programs as needed
Collaborate with Operations team to ensure host campuses are prepared to execute WSP programming; troubleshoot any academic staffing or curricula-based issues as they arise
Coordinate and assist in planning academic information sessions and refresher courses, as well as career exploration experiences and additional career programming, incorporating best practices with regard to educating student veterans
Coordinate and execute education program assessments
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor?s degree
Ability to travel to program sites and team trainings
Detail- and task-oriented with proven time management and organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, specifically with spreadsheet applications
Must be comfortable and effective working remotely
IMPORTANT QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS
Enlisted military experience is preferred but not required
Sensitivity to the challenge of transitioning from the military to college
Experience working with nonprofit organizations and/or academic institutions
Experience communicating with college faculty and other academic staff
Ability to persevere in the face of adversity, adept at working in challenging environments, skilled in negotiation, comfortable with ambiguity, welcoming of feedback, and committed to doing whatever it takes to develop, improve, and monitor processes
