Looking for a place to build connections w/ the land & a unique Vermont community? Explore the worlds of community-driven land conservation in the Champlain Islands. As our Community Conservation Coordinator, you’ll gain direct experience in the many roles a conservation organization can play, as well as skills in environmental education, trail building, gardening & food access, town planning, & more. Help protect the land & cultivate a culture of inclusion & environmental stewardship w/ SHLT. Conservation experience not required, only a passion for learning & desire to get to know a small community first hand. SHLT is dedicated to protecting the farmland, woodland, natural & recreational areas, & open spaces which help give S. Hero its distinctive quality of life. We do this work through building strong community ties, forging partnerships w/ farmers, establishing critical links between consumers & farmers, getting kids & adults out onto the land, education about our natural world, school programs, & of course, land conservation. The goal of this position is to expand our capacity for offering educational & community programming as part of our Community Conservation initiatives. This position involves both field and office service. Some weekend & evening service is required. Position begins September 7th, 2022 and ends August 11th, 2023. This position is Full Time: Requires 1,720 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 48 weeks. Member will receive a living allowance of $25,500 (pre-tax), and an education award of $6,495 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Member Duties : ¿ Assist Programs Director on pilot project to integrate anti-racist education with our nature and farm based curriculum at Folsom School, using the lenses of storytelling, art, music, agriculture, food, and land stewardship, to help students and teachers engage with the stories and experiences of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in Vermont. ¿ Co-lead after-school fall and spring Nature Clubs and Summer Camp Programs at Folsom School with SHLT Programs Director. ¿ Provide garden programming at Folsom School and maintain our Learning Garden with students and parent volunteers. ¿ Engage community volunteers and local farmers to expand/plan/plant/maintain donation garden, and partner with the Healthy Roots Collaborative to distribute harvest and other resources to local food shelves. • Participate in VHCB AmeriCorps Events, &Program Initiatives.
