The Associate Director will partner closely with cross-functional team members to lead the execution of our vision, manage research efforts, and shape the product roadmap. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and passionate about building the best possible experience for teachers, students, and administrators. Amplify’s COVID-19 vaccination policy requires all staff to provide proof of vaccination for in-person meetings unless an approved exemption is provided. Responsibilities:
  • Serve as an inspiring leader and champion for user research and customer perspectives at all levels of the organization.
  • Partner with cross-functional directors of product, design, and engineering to develop inclusive and cohesive experiences that align to Amplify's overall mission and strategy.
  • Gather input from partners throughout the product research and development lifecycle.
  • Develop and report on quarterly OKRs as the key point for accountability for UXR across the core platform.
  • Manage budgets and vendor relationships for UXR resources.
  • Demonstrate deep expertise in research practices, team leadership, and Amplify products.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that drive quality and efficiency for the user research team.
  • Foster collaboration, experimentation, agility, and inquiry, while maintaining high expectations and attention to detail.
  • Hire, retain, and inspire a dedicated and diverse team of user researchers.
  • Assist with research facilitation as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 6+ years experience in translating user, market, and/or competitor research into business impact.
  • 2+ years experience in leading, growing, and retaining teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong empathy and interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in various quantitative and qualitative methods such as usability testing, prototyping, discovery, data analysis, task analysis, focus groups, field research, interviewing and surveying.
  • Willing to travel a few times per year to US schools for field studies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of developing collaborative workflows and improving team processes.
  • Customer relationship management experience.
  • Passion for education and the edtech field.
  • Degree(s) or prior experience in education, HCI, technology, design, user research, curriculum content development.
